This is the stunning Tuxedo Black 1966 Corvette belonging to John Mayes from Thetford in Norfolk, which picked up the trophy for heat 5 at the Damn Yankees show at North Weald, Essex. The car was featured in Classic American several years back and even appeared at the NEC before that in its ‘barn find’ state. It’s had an interesting and colourful life including many years spent in West Africa. Featuring a big block 427 motor, it’s even acheived a 98.2% score by the National Corvette Restoration Society – a high accolade indeed!
