Thanks for the memories
By: Web Editor
Dear Classic American,... I just had to let you know that a sense of deja vu came over me after reading Will Shier’s Discoveries in the September issue.
The same row of decrepit ’57 Chevys, lined up roadside at Nolley’s Yard, made me quickly pull off the road as I motored through sleepy Campbellsville, in rural Kentucky, last year.
Although a Corvette owner, I am a long-term admirer of ’57 Chevys and a photo shoot was necessary. I’ve seen many abandoned classics on my stateside wanderings but couldn’t recall seeing such a distinguished line-up by the highway before. Also, your article Old trucks never die, on classic ramp trucks, reminded me of the lovely old Chevy truck, complete with ‘piggyback’ rat rod, I saw at the monthly ‘Somernites Cruise’ in downtown Somerset, Kentucky. It was one of hundreds of fabulous vehicles that took over the downtown area, reserved exclusively for show cars and which was followed by cruising on the main strip as evening fell.
