A superb 1966 Shelby GT-350, once owned by radio and TV presenter and noted car collector Chris Evans, is set to wow enthusiasts with its own star appeal when it comes to auction.

It is estimated at between £100,000 to £120,000 for the forthcoming Race Retro and Classic Car Sale and for that money the new owner will enjoy a superb investment opportunity along with real driving and ownership pleasure.

Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions, said: “If there’s a name synonymous with high performance American cars, then it’s got to be the legendary Carroll Shelby.

“This particular model was built at his Los Angeles airport facility in 1966 before being shipped to Europe where it has undergone continuous improvement, resulting in many concours awards.

“Not only this, in 1995 it featured prominently in a leading classic car magazine, including editorial and front cover billing, and of course it boasts one of the UK’s most famous show business personalities among its previous owners. This car just oozes star appeal and rightfully takes its place centre stage at the auction.”

The Race Retro and Classic Car Sale takes place at the Race Retro International Historic Show, Europe’s premier historic racing event, which will be held from February 24-26 at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire.

Viewing of the lots at Race Retro will be all day on the Friday (24) and until lunchtime on the Saturday (25), when bidding commences. Under the hammer will be classic and race cars, motorcycles and automobilia. Anyone interested in attending the sale will be required to purchase an auction catalogue.

Those interested in submitting an entry into the auction can email enquries@silverstoneauctions.com or call 01926 691 141. Meanwhile, auction catalogues are available online at www.silverstoneauctions.com
