Farewell Tony

Tony Beadle

It is with great sadness we report on the death of Classic American's founder and first editor Tony Beadle, aged 68, on Saturday, January 7, 2012, following complications after heart surgery in Harefield Hospital, Middlesex.

Tony trained as a design draughtsman and project engineer, before embarking on freelance motoring writing in 1971. Editor, broadcaster, technical editor of Street Machine, founding editor of Classic American and American Car World and editor at Triumph World, Tony was a member of the Guild of Motoring Writers for more than 25 years and on the committee of the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs.

The funeral will take place at Breakspear Crematorium (West Chapel), Breakspear Road, Ruislip HA4 7SJ on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 10.45am, followed by a gathering at Ruislip Rugby Club, Ruislip High Street HA4 6DR.

Donations in Tony's memory for Harefield Hospital Charity may be sent to: H.C. Grimstead, 62 High Street, Ruislip, Middlesex HA4 7AA. Alternatively donations may be made by sponsoring Tony's son, John, who is running the London Marathon (vest no. 14647) via http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/BigBadBeadle

On behalf of Classic American, we extend sincere sympathy to Tony's widow, Jennie, son John and their family.
