Crikey!
By: Web Editor
If your Classic American feels even chunkier than usual, then I make no apologies – this month’s magazine contains the first of our Collector’s Series of double-sided adverts, celebrating this month that much loved icon of the American highway, the Ford Mustang!

It’s the first of a series of posters we’ve got planned in upcoming issues and if you’re like me, I’m sure you’ll agree that there’s nothing like a nice colour poster of an American classic to give you some inspiration when you’re tinkering in the garage or working in your study…
October’s issue carries show reports from the last two heats of the Footman James Car of the Year competition (the Mopar EuroNats starting on page 58 and Rally of the Giants starting on page 65 respectively) and that brings the number of cars on our stand at the Classic Motor Show at the NEC in November to seven. Ultimately the focus of the competition is not just on the one overall winner, but rather celebrating these seven very special cars which we feel sum up what’s great about American car scene in the UK. We’ll be offering readers an exclusive ticket competition, so you can come along and check these fantastic vehicles out yourself – so watch this space!
This month’s magazine has our usual mixture of content, including an article written by someone who was behind marketing the products of Detroit during the Sixties and his take on the TV show Mad Men, which purports to depict the glamorous world of advertising during the Sixties. It’s a fascinating look behind the scenes, especially if you’re one of the many individuals who fell in love with American cars through their advertising. Illustrating the piece are three cars which would no doubt have been in the car parks of high flying ad executives of the time (as well as being the subject of their work). My personal favourite? Well, it would have to be the Buick Riviera – what’s yours?
